In this busy life schedule we tend to consume junk food because of not having sufficient eating time and also for the mouth-pleasing tastes of junk food. However, ingesting junk food regularly can critically affect your health because what we eat on a regular basis is responsible for our physical as well as mental health.
Junk or fast food can be prepared in little time, however, they do not contain any of the food nutrients that will provide nutrition to your body. Besides, junk food contains excessive oil, artificial sugar and spices. Eating junk food in moderation do not cause as critical problems, but regular ingesting of junk food is dangerous. This can lead you to many health consequences, here is the list of negative impacts of junk food on your body.
Negative effects of junk food in the body
- Heart diseases: Heart diseases are one of the major causes of death worldwide. Junk food is made of too much artificial sugar, salt, and excessive saturated fats. All these increase triglyceride level and blood pressure level, also reduces HDL cholesterol level, these may contribute to heart diseases and stroke.
- Obesity: One of the most common effects of junk foods is obesity. Junk foods cannot make you feel fuller for a long period because they are stacked with high calories, fats and sugar. Obesity increases the chances of getting diabetes, joint issues and many heart problems.
- Dental issues: Too much salty and oil food consumption can cause poor dental hygiene by affecting the tooth enamel, and they can get stuck into your teeth and cause cavities.
- Type 2 diabetes: Junk food contains too much fats, sugar and carbohydrates, which may cause high blood pressure level and many heart issues, all these increases the risk of getting type 2 diabetes.
- Depression: Regular consumption of junk food can cause chemical imbalances in your brain resulting in you becoming addicted to junk foods. This later on can put you in a depression stage.
- Memory issue: Eating extreme sugary and fatty junk foods compresses the thinking and learning function of the brain.
- Skin related issues: Oil and carbohydrates of junk foods stimulates acne and additional skin associated problems.
Junks foods contain high sugar, carbohydrates and trans fats which can contribute to many health conditions, so it is better to switch into more healthy food habits. Try to eat foods which are high in vitamins, minerals, fibers, and healthy fats. However, do not be harsh in your eating habits, it is always recommended to eat junk foods occasionally.
